Project Arrow

Third Grade: Journeys/Destinations
This unit is written by the College Of William and Mary and designed specifically to meet the needs of high-ability learners. The goals for this unit of study are:

To develop analytical and interpretive skills in literature
To develop persuasive writing skills
To develop linguistic competency
To develop listening and oral communication skills
To develop reasoning skills
To develop understanding of the concept of change

Literature selections provide an opportunity for students to explore and gain insight into the concept of change

 ACTIVITY:

In order to develop an insight into the concept of change, students bring in two photos of themselves and are encouraged to think beyond physical changes, considering preference changes and ability changes. Students design a poster to reflect these insights.

 PROJECT:  Presentation

In order to develop an insight into the concept of change, persuasive writing, listening and oral communication skills, students choose a point of view about the best way to preserve memories  and present their point of view and supported findings to the class.
