Fourth Grade: Geometric Explorations
Polyhedron Sculptures

Student Samples

Students explore geometric figures: Polyhedrons. In this activity, students are asked to design their own polyhedron sculpture. Their final product has to be priced between $100-$150.

Students design and draw their sculpture and price them according to this list:Mrs. Caliva works individually with students.

Each face = $5
Each vertex point = $3
Each edge = $2

Student also use the software program SHAPE UP to design their polyhedron nets
.

My Polyhedron Sculpture is called Dopentagon because it is two pentagons together and "do" means two. It has 16 faces,  12 vertex points, and 25 edges.


My Polyhedron Sculpture is called  Achtogon because "Acht" means 8 in German. My sculpture has  8  faces, 12 vertex points, and  18 edges.
My Polyhedron Sculpture is worth $102.00

My Polyhedron Sculpture is called  Idekahedron because it is in the shape of the letter "I" and it has 10 faces.
It has
10 faces, 16 vertex points, and 20 edges.
My Polyhedron Sculpture is worth $128.
