Mr. Lyle Nicholson Mrs. McCoy was awarded a mini-grant by the Indian Prairie Education Foundation to bring the Lyric Opera to Clow School. As part of Lyric Opera’s Meet the Artist program, Clow students will have the opportunity to interact with baritone Lyle Nicholson, an emerging professional opera singer currently in residence with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mr. Nicholson presents a program featuring the history of African-American music and its influence on American culture. Mr. Nicholson incorporates his own personal life experiences to present both narrative and song to convey “what it takes” to succeed as a professional artist in both opera and in life. Mr. Nicholson allows students to discover that “there is no such thing as a typical opera singer,” and that belief in oneself allows you to accomplish great things. The Meet the Artist program focused on students in grades 3-5. Students attended an assembly featuring the artist during the school day. They had the opportunity to interact with the artist at an assembly.
