Third Grade

Pumpkin Math

In October, Clow third grade students bring pumpkins to school and learn to measure.  They study height, weight, circumference, & estimating.  They compare their pumpkin to a "benchmark" or sample pumpkin.  Finally, students are able to dig in and gut the pumpkins so that they can count the quantity of seeds.

The teacher carved the openings. There were enough pumpkins for each group to have one.
