Social Studies

Second graders research a president. They use the encyclopedias in the LMC, the biographies and other resources. A lot is learned about the people who have led our country and the research process at the same time.

The study of the United States is a part of the 2nd grade curriculum. Students complete a state brochure and then take the information that they found and synthesize it into a PowerPoint presentation.

The United States Atlas is a resource that students use for state information. First the infromation is entered into the packet, then students color.  
Facts are carefully written down. The World Book Encyclopedia provides a page with brief facts about important topics.

  When everything is done, playing ZipZap Map is a good way to take a break. Once the brochures are done, then the work on PowerPoint begins.
