2006 Clow Storytelling Festival

Emily Hooper Lansana & Glenda Zahra Baker

Emily and Glenda are dynamic storytellers, full of engaging energy and rhythm. They sang a story song about Friends and taught us Deep & Wide with hand signs. The West African tale of the Tortoise, the Hare & the Elephant was followed with I Am Somebody and Beautiful are My People based on a poem by Langston Hughes.

Emily and Glenda are tandem tellers. They tell stories with music and action. Glenda and Emily connect with their audience.
Everyone likes to get involved. All join in.
Anansi stories are always a favorite as was Anansi & Beans, Greens, & Yams. Singing along with Harry Belafonte's We Came From the Mountains, made us feel like one big family. Hearing the story of The People Who Could Fly led us all to join in singing We Shall Not be Moved.

Music adds to any story. Characters add to a story. Action adds to a story. Details bring a story to life.

Feel the story by participating in it. Help tell a story by being a part of it.
Glenda and Emily even told an Uncle Remus story about how Brother Rabbit survived a drought and ended with everyone on their feet applauding.

Clow students are all storytellers. Clow students listen and enjoy. Stories are a part of all of us.
