Dan LeMonnier
Dan told stories of our country's heritage, the pioneers and famous Americans in history. As he
played his banjo and sang, his stories came to life.
Mr. LeMonnier told Big Brown Bear, How Chipmunk Got
His Stripes and Jack and the Robbers. He told how Gordon Hubbard walked
a hundred miles and about Icarus & Daedelus. We learned how
Ellwood Hanes built a car with an internal combustion engine that began
the Indianapolis 500 and the story of Levi Coffin, the founder of the
Underground Railroad.
We heard about the Tippecanoe Battlefield ghosts,
Tecumsah and his brother Lalawethika. Mr. Lemonnier shared Just Passin'
Through, the story of the French trappers and traders and Iron Moon
Hunter, about the Chinese plight during the building of the Continental
Railroad. Each story was a little lesson in our county's history and
helped to paint a picture of pride and achievement.
