The Task

Decide on which leader you would like to be, Malcolm X or Dr. King. Write an essay. You will take the reader of your essay on a journey through time beginning with the events that preceded your actual death to the present.

Be specific about the date and times of your events and accomplishments. Give details of situations and circumstances. Include quotes from yourself and others. Remember to speak in the first person, as if you are writing an autobiography.

Remember, these were powerful men. They did not stand still long. Grass did not grow under their feet. Dr. King and Malcolm X were very active politically and this should show in your writing. Interview family members and friends that were living during the time of the Civil Rights Movement. They may give you more insight on the man of your choice as well as ideas of what he may have accomplished.
