Fifth Grade

Historical American Program Description

Each student selects a historical American figure in December to research. Throughout the month of December, fifth graders read a biography of the person. The project is completed as a combination of social studies and writing. Each fifth grader is responsible for following the timeline and meeting the expectations.

Since this is the first formal research paper assigned, teachers will instruct, assist, and encourage students along the way, and trust parents will do the same at home. This is a terrific opportunity to teach the students independent responsibility.
