Fifth Grade
Social Studies
 | | Ancient Civilizations
Fifth graders learn who the first Americans were. They
discover that during the Ice Age, Asian hunters followed the herds across the land bridge,
Beringia. Some stayed up north; others migrated through both North and South America where
they developed their own civilizations. Clow student groups research five ancient
civilizations, create posters, and report their findings to the class.

 | | Colonial Times
In December, 5th Graders learn all about early Colonial life in America. Students research
an aspect of Colonial life (cooking, candle making, living conditions, etc.), create a
visual project, and then present this project orally to the class.
