Fifth Grade

Weather Disaster Friendly Letter   

Write a friendly letter that includes all five main topics of study as requested including feelings, thoughts, and opinions as if you survived through this disaster. Below is a list of the parts and attributes that should be included in your friendly letter.

Heading
Aligned to the center of the page
Placed close to the top of the page
Displays the complete name of recipient on first line
Displays the complete mailing address of recipient on the second line
Indicates the city, a comma, the state, and the zip code on the third line
Greeting
Placed one space below the heading
Aligned with the left margin
Starts with “Dear” followed by the name of the recipient
Uses Mrs. , Mr. , Ms. , or Dr. with adult recipients
Ends with a comma or colon
Body
Placed one space below the greeting
Uses correct paragraph format
Incorporates all five main topics of study
Incorporates feelings, thoughts, and opinions about the disaster you've lived through
Closing
Entered one space below the body
Aligned to the center of the page
Includes standard closing (e.g. “Sincerely,” or “Yours truly,”)
Capitalized first word
Shows the comma after the final word
Signature
Aligned to the center of the page
Placed directly below the closing
Indicates students' first and last name in cursive writing
