Three Types of Writing & Rubrics

Expository:
Expository writing presents factual information.

Narrative:
Narrative writing allows the writer to tell a
story about an event. Narrative writing comes alive when the author focuses on the event and includes a lot of "show not tell" description.

Persuasive:
In persuasive writing the student convinces the reader to take his/her side.  The writer does this by providing reasons that support his/her view.

Write Like An Author By Using The Six Traits!
  1. Ideas: Clear, detailed and unique ideas

  2. Organization: Focus on topic and put in an order that makes sense

  3. Voice: Help your audience feel all the things you want them to feel

  4. Word Choice: Choose the best words to get your ideas across

  5. Sentence Fluency: Sentences glide together to read more easily

  6. Conventions: Check your work for capitals, spelling, and punctuation
