Have-A-Heart Day &
Storyteller, Sue Black
We spend all day emphasizing the importance of caring for others and reinforce the quality throughout the year. This year, Sue Black, Clow's Storyteller in Residence, visited the fourth graders and presented a program stressing the importance of watching out for one another and how to deal with a bully and what to do if you are in a bully situation. Students role played a number of common, yet uncomfortable situations. Fourth graders now know that bullies try and intimidate, they can use verbal, physical and social techniques to hurt others. They learned why bullies act the way they do and what to do when it happens. Mrs. Black told her version of Big Brother Bubba, Hanna Pigtanna, Pigbob Squarepants and Jack the Wolf, Two Bully Goats on a Bridge, as well as Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock.
