Clow PTA News 8/20/19
Note from the PTA President
Hello Clow families -- I’d like to take a moment to personally welcome you all to the 2019-2020 school year. Super excited to see the new incoming Kindergartens and their families yesterday and all the smiles (maybe some frowns if I’m being honest) from the returning students as well. I am happy to serve as your 2019-2020 PTA President for a second year – although, this will be my last so any takers, come find me 😊——. For those of you new to the school, a very brief introduction. Together with my husband, Mark, we have three children at Clow – Addison (5M), Aubrey (3M) and Ayden (1H) and we are all excited for what the year will bring. As the year continues on, please be on the watch for some quick updates like this that will be included in these weekly newsletters. We try to combine school news and PTA news as we are united in our purpose so be certain to scroll all the way down in the newsletters in the coming weeks for a one stop briefing. We are working on updating our website and the PTA MemberHub portal to provide you with information at your fingertips, but should you have any questions or comments in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out. Looking forward to partnering with you all -- Go Cougars!

The Clow PTA is a part of the Illinois Parent/Teacher Association that strives to enhance children’s education experiences. As part of our mission, we are always looking for new members. Joining is easy and always open. Signing up does not automatically make you a time committed volunteer, but it does mean that you support our group and believe in what we are trying to achieve. Thank you to those that have answered the call and already joined. We are about 200 families strong as of the start of school and looking to make this year our best one yet with full support of our families. Pick up a form in the office or print out the attachment below if you are interested in joining.
PTA Programs and Fundraising
Our primary objective as a local PTA is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education and experience of every child. To meet this objective and afford services that are not covered by our school budget, we must fundraise. While being cognizant that we do not overreach and bombard you all with fundraisers over fundraisers, because no one wants that – including us – we are focusing our main fundraisers in the fall in order to raise funds for the school year. Our fall Fundraisers will be announced in the next couple of weeks and more information will be forthcoming about these efforts under separate cover.
Additionally, there are many passive fundraising opportunities we want to highlight.
AMAZON SMILE: Attention all Amazon shoppers. We have registered our school on Amazon Smile as a simple, easy way to raise some money for our school and classrooms. Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of eligible smile.amazon.com purchases to the charities selected by customers and Clow's unique charity link is: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/36-3028473
Only limitation is that Amazon Smile cannot be used through the app on your mobile device for charitable donations. You can however, use the app to fill your basket and then can go through safari or your web browser using the link above on your mobile device to complete your purchase for ordering. All proceeds received from Amazon will go directly to our students. Happy Shopping!
PEDIPED: Through the Pediped loves schools program, Pediped Shoes gives 10% back on all sales.
School name: Clow Elementary School
Unique code: SCHYWPI
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: Save your Box Tops from your already eligible purchases and Clow earns $.10 for each one submitted. Multiple contests for classrooms and students will be announced soon but start clipping or scanning your receipts with the NEW BoxTops App to get a head start. Easy way to give back to Clow.
Thanks for all that you do Clow Families!
